A brilliant century by Satpal helped Jalandhar pile up an impressive total of 434 for 8 in allotted 95 overs against Chandigarh on the first day of the four-day final in the Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Katoch Shield here today.
Openers Satpal and Pargat gave Jalandhar a solid start by putting on 91 runs for the opening wicket partnership. Satpal scored 121 runs off 192 balls with nine well struck boundaries. Pargat Singh managed to score 51 runs, with the help of five boundaries. Pargat Singh was brilliantly run out by Anshul Tripathi.
Robin Singh who scored 94 runs in the semi-finals again scored 51 runs off 86 which the help of four boundaries. Luv Kumar 51, 4x4) and Abhishek Gupta (52, 4x6) were the other notable contributors. Right arm leg spinner Anshul Tripathi was the pick of the Chandigarh bowlers scalping 5 for 150 runs. Rahul Chara chipped n with 2 for 128.
