On the first day of National Sprint Meet, Abdul Nazeeb Qureshi and Nidhi K. Singh emerged the fastest men and women runners, respectively, in the National Sprint Meet here today. Qureshi clocked 10.56 seconds and Nidhi K. Singh timed 12.31 in the 100 metres dash.
Manish from Haryana won gold in the heartbreaking 100m race in B-20 years with a timing of 11.04s ahead of Yesu Raj of Punjab (11.07s) and Ninawe Pratik of Maharashtra (11.29) who secured silver and bronze, respectively.
In the another 100m event of girls for Under-20, Bhagya Shree Shirke of Maharashtra clinched gold with a timing of 12.45s while Shreya Vidwans, who represented India in World Youth Championships in 2007, has to take silver with a timing of 12.53s ahead of her teammate (Maharashtra) Pranita Save (12.66s).
Men:100m:1 Mohammed Abdul Najeeb (ONGC) 10.56, B.G.Nagraj . (WR)10.64, 3 Ganesh Satpute (CR) 10.73.
Women: 100m: 1 Nidhi K.Singh . (CR)12.31, 2 Alka Rani (UP)12.79, 3 Raji C.T. . (Kerala) 12.93.
Boys 20 and under: 100m: 1 Manish (Har) 11.04, 2 Yesu Raj (Pun) 11.07, 3 Ninawe Pratiek (Mah) 11.29.
Girls 20 &Un: 100m: 1 Bhagyashree Shirke (Mah) 12.45, 2 Vidwans Shriya (Mah) 12.53, 3 Save Pranita (Mah).
