CHANDIGARH, SEPT 12
The Chandigarh Wrestling Association today honoured international wrestlers Jagmit Singh, Parvesh and Ajay Pathak for bringing laurels to the country and Union Territory of Chandigarh with their outstanding performance at the state, national and internation level. Chairman Mohali District Planning Board N K Sharma and Chandigarh Sports Director M L Sharma presented the prizes.
Bharat Kesari Jagmit Singh was presented a cheque for Rs 21,000. Kesari Kumar Parvesh of Delhi was given a purse of Rs 11,000 and Ajay Pathak of Punjab Police posted in Mohali, who recently participated in the World Masters Wrestling Championship in Finland was felicitated with a cash award of Rs 5100.
Meanwhile, Border Security Force claimed the overall trophy while Wrestling Coaching Centre, Sector were declared runners-up.
Talented Jagmit Singh, who trains under Darshan Lal Sharma, wrestling coach of the Chandigarh Sports Department, today displayed his prowess by outplaying Dhirender in the +96 bout final. It was Dhirender who gained one point in the beginning. However, in the second round Jagmit floored his opponent in a swift action.
