Sri Lanka Tigers snatched a thrilling five-run triumph against Hong Kong Heroes in the Jan Nayak Chaudhar Devi Lal International T-20 Cricket League being played at the Jan Nayak Ch. Devi Lal Vidyapeeth Stadium in Sirsa on Sunday night.
Hong Kong Heroes captain Tabarak Dar elected to field first after winning the toss. They scored 134 before being bowled out in 20 overs. Krishna Silva and Sumudu Suranga started the innings for Sri Lanka Tigers. Sumudu Suranga scored 25 with the help of three fours. Krishna Silva contributed 11 runs. Romesh Malaka scored a hurricane 29. Rakitha Wimaladharma scored 20 runsJaved Iqbal was the most successful bowler by taking three wickets for 35 runs. Nadeem Ahmed bagged 2 for 26 runs.
Chasing the victory target, Sri Lanka Tigers required 13 runs in the last over. Azhar Ilahi and Adil Khan could take the total to 129 for 9 in stipulated 20 overs. They fell five short of victory.
Butt Hussain and Tabarak Dar opened the innings for Hong Kong Heroes. They suffered an early jolt as they lost opener Hussain with scoreboard reading 2 for 1. Tabarak Dar made 51 runs in 57 balls. He hit four fours. Haseeb Amjad (12), Nadeem Ahmed (18) and Babar Hayat (19) were their other main scorers.
Sumudu Suranga was declared the Man of the Match and was awarded a cheque of Rs. 21,000 by Dr. J. P. Chaudhary of Sirsa.
