Siddikur, Sujjan and Sanjay ended round two with identical totals of six under 138. While Siddikur and Sujjan shot scores of 66, Sanjay carded an even par 72 to make it a three-way tie for the lead.
Bangladeshi amateurs Mohd Dulal Hossain and Mohd Shakhawat Hossain are tied fourth at five under 139.
The cut was declared at 11 over 155. Fifty professionals and all the six amateurs (all from Bangladesh) in the field made the cut. Sixteen Bangladeshi professionals made the cut.
Mohd Siddikur Rahman (72, 66) kept the flag flying for the host nation with his second round effort of a bogey-free six under 66. Siddikur was five under after the front nine, having birdied the third, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth. The 25-year-old then played an outstanding approach shot from 140 yards to within four feet of the pin to close his round with his sixth birdie of the day.
Sujjan Singh (72, 66) matched Rahman’s score of 66 to be the joint leader. His second round featured an eagle, six birdies and two bogeys. On his first nine, Sujjan birdied the 11th, 13th, 14th, 17th and bogeyed the 10th and 16th to make the turn at two under. The 29-year-old then had a flawless second nine, as he sank birdies on the third and fifth and closed with an eagle on the par four ninth. Sujjan holed his lob wedge approach shot from 94 yards on the ninth.
“It’s a great way to start the season. I didn’t play here last year but I really like the layout of this course. I got a hang of the greens today and that’s one of the reasons for my low score. I hit it close on a few occasions and my short game was good,” said Sujjan.
He added, “The highlights of my round today included a 25 feet birdie putt on the 11th, the eagle on the ninth, where I holed my second shot (lob wedge) from about 94 yards and a good recovery from the bunker on the 12th to save par.”
Sanjay Kumar (66, 72) made seven birdies against five bogeys and a double bogey in his second round to grab a share of the lead along with Siddikur and Sujjan.
Indians Digvijay Singh and Ranjit Singh share sixth place along with Bangladesh’s Mohd Jibon Ali at four under 140.

Rashid Khan opened up a 11-shot lead at the halfway stage of the LG Rajasthan Open Amateur Championship being played at the par-70 Rambagh Golf Club here today. Rashid returned a card of four-under 66, and with his overnight 65, finds himself at nine-under 131 for the tournament.
Kapurthala’s Imamul Haque and Chandigarh’s Varoon Parmar shared second place at two-over 133. Parmar could only manage a 75 today after a first-round 67 while Haque followed up his first round of even-par 70 with a 72. There were as many as five players tied for fourth place including HS Kang who carded a round of one-under 69.
With just a two-shot lead going into the second round, Rashid needed to card another good round to make some breathing room on top and he did that just fine. He started off in ominous fashion, making a birdie from less than six feet on the par-4 10th, his first hole of the day. He had to wait for another nine holes before making his next birdie. A good tee shot on the par-3 fourth gave him his third birdie and took him to three-under for the round. With none of the par-5s yielding a birdie for Rashid, he stepped on to the ninth tee, his final hole for the day, needing to check that box in his performance table.
A good tee shot followed up by a long iron from the left fairway allowed him to be on the green in two and a safe two-putt from there gave him his first birdie on a par-5 this week, and took his tournament total to nine-under par.
A total of forty players made the cut which was declared at 13-over 143.

Rashid Khan sparkled with a round of five-under 65 to take the lead after the first round of the LG Rajasthan Open Amateur Championship being played at the par-70 Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur. The round of 65 also gave the Delhi player a two-shot lead going into the second round.
Chandigarh’s Varoon Parmar returned his best card ever on the amateur circuit as he took hold of second place on his own at three-under 67. Wasim Khan is two shots further back in third place with a round of one-under 69. Four players—Gagan Verma, Moin Malak, Rahul Bajaj and Imamul Haque are tied at fourth place at level-par 70.
It wasn’t the best day for 18-year-old Rashid as he struggled to find the greens in regulation early on in his round. A dropped shot on the par-4 third, put him at one-over for the day but he turned it around after that. Good putts for birdie on the fifth and sixth saw him get to under par and he stayed below that mark through the rest of the round. The Delhi Golf Club player made three straight birdies on the back-nine, which started with a chip-in on the par-3 11th and made his sixth birdie on the 16th to get to five-under. But in between, there were also many opportunities missed as he lost out on as many as four more birdies after getting himself into a good position to boost his score further.
Back in 2009, Rashid won the same tournament to climb to number one place on the LG Order of Merit list for the first time and has held on to that position ever since.
For second-placed Varoon Parmar, it was one of his better days on Tour. With his best finish coming a few months back at the LG Chandigarh Open where he finished just outside the top 10, the Chandigarh player is keen on consolidating on his good start to secure his best finish.
Leading scores: 65: Rashid Khan.67: Varoon Parmar. 69: Wasim Khan. 70: Gagan Verma, Imamul Haque, Rahul Bajaj, Moin Malak. 72: Bhanupratap Singh, Karan Vasudeva, Karan Taunk.

KOLKATA, JAN 24

asian Games gold medallist Lakshman Singh once again proved that he has the killer instinct when he brought the laurels, this time for his club – the Royal Calcutta Golf Club - who annexed the inaugural Vodafone Royals Trophy which concluded at the RCGC here on Sunday.
Lakshman and his partner Aditya Khaitan representing RCGC `B’ today tallied 38 stableford points for a two-round aggregate of 77 points to script a superb comeback win after they were placed third overnight. Overnight joint-leaders Royal Perth Golf Club comprising of Bruce Shannahan and Francis James Bryant could make only 34 points for a tournament total of 74 points to finish second.
The husband-wife pair of Stephen and Margie Lilley representing the Royal Melbourne Golf Club finished third with 73 points. The other overnight joint-leaders Ravi and Binny Mehra of Royal Montreal Golf Club put up a dismal show and ended up 20th.
The final round which was played on a scramble format saw the players enjoying themselves yet focussing on their targets. Lakshman Singh who was a part of the Indian team that bagged the Asian Games gold medal in 1982 had an able partner in Aditya Khaitan. The duo opened with solids pars on the first three holes before making a birdie on the fourth and making the only bogey of the round on the very next hole. One more birdie on the 15th sealed the issue in their favour.
“We are thrilled to win the inaugural Royals Trophy. It is a matter of prestige and pride to become the champions,” said Lakshman Singh after the victory. “We combined well today as the format allowed us to overcome each other’s shortcomings. We did have the home advantage but one can never predict the result until the round is over,” admitted the champion.
“We are disappointed that we finished second after leading the tournament. However, I must compliment the champions for their brilliant display.
