Local DAV College and Sri Guru Hari Singh College Sirsa qualified for quarterfinals in the 18th SAIL-NEHRU Champions College Hockey Tournament at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here today.
In the league fixtures DAV College Jalandhar thrashed S.K Porwal College Nagpur by 8-0. Ajay Kumar (37th and 45th minutes) and Ravinder (2nd and 31st) scored two goals each. Their other goal-getters were Jashanpreet (3rd), Anil kumar (18th), Ganesh Kumar (58th) and Ritesh Singh (62nd).
In the second match Jamia Milia Islamia of Delhi crushed Nandra Arts & Science College Erode ( Chennai) by 8-0. The winners were leading by 4-0 at half time.
For winners Pawan Malik (49th and 56th) and Sandeep Kumar (24th and 55th) contributed two goals each. Ravi (14th), Sandeep (20th), Ishtiak ( 22nd) and Satendra Dalal (42nd) made one goal each.
In the third match Sri Guru Hari Singh College Sirsa beat Loyola College Chennai by 6-0 to reserve their bearth in the quarterfinals with six points from two outings. The scorers for the winners were Lakha Singh (68th and 69th), Malak Singh (14th and 56th) Dhyan Singh (20th) and Harpreet Singh (61st).
