Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer and Modern School, Delhi won their respective league matches in the All-India IPSC Girls’ Cricket Tournament in Pinegrove School, Dharampur, (Solan HP) today.
In the match between Modern School, Delhi and Daly College, Indore, Modern won the toss and elected to bat. In the stipulated 20 overs they set a target of 241 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Vaishali stood tall as her audacious stroke play stunned the Daly College girls. She made an unbeaten 121 while Sanjana also carried her bat throughout the innings making 54 runs.
Chasing the total, the Daly College were bundled out for just 50 runs. They lost early wickets and were unable to spend time at the crease against some accurate bowling from their opponents, the highest scorer being Neha with 13 runs for her team. Sanjana took 5 wickets while Vaishali chipped in with two wickets. Modern School won the match convincingly by 191 runs. Vaishali was adjudged the Player of the match for her all round performance.
In another match defending champions Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer outwitted their opponents Rajkumar College, Rajkot. After winning the toss and electing to use the turf first, the Rajkot girls were lost wickets in practically every over and ended up with just 10 runs in 10.2. The Rajkot girls were never comfortable against the bowling attack of Mayo girls and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Some aggressive and accurate bowling by Danielle who took 3 wickets and Shruti who added 2 wickets to her kitty mesmerized the oppositions and they were not able to break the shackles. Mayo easily collected the runs to take full points from the game and won the match by 10 wickets. Danielle was adjudged the Player of the match for her herculean effort with the ball.
In another interesting match Raj Kumar College, Rajkot defeated MGD, Jaipur by 6 wickets. MGD won the toss and elected to bat. They posted a challenging total of 116 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Raj Kumar just managed making the required runs with two balls to spare. Pravarsha walked away with the Player of the Match award for her unbeaten 38 while Namrata also made 29 not out enabling her team to gain valuable points in the tournament.
