Rahul Gupta promises new wrestling mat for WCC-30

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 25

Chandigarh Police won the overall trophy in Greeco-Roman Style in the Chandigarh Wrestling Championship at the Sector 30 Wrestling Coaching Centre here today.

Sandeep (55 kg), Ram Bhagat (60 kg), Ashnesh Tomar (66 kg), Ravinder(70 kg), Nikhil (84 kg), Amit (96 kg), and Bijender (+96 kg) won gold medals in their respective Greeco-Roman style finals.

Chandigarh Sports Director Rahul Guptawasthe chief  guest and distributed the prizes. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gupta promised to extend all possible help to the Chandigarh wrestlers and the Chandigarh Wrestling Association to promote this sports discipline. The Chandigarh Sports Department will also purchage a new wrestling mat for theSector 32 Wrestling Coaching Centre. More wrestling coaches will be recruited to train the players.

Those wrestlers who bring laurels to the City Beautiful by winning medals at national and international level will be honoured and given cash awards as is done in case of other sportspersons.

Chandigarh Wrestling Association general secretary Darshan Lal thanked Mr Rahul Gupta for his efforts to promote wrestling and other sports disciplines.
